HOW TO PREPARE FOR A BOUDOIR SESSION

Boudoir sessions are all about feeling empowered, pampered and seeing amazing and strong you are! It’s can be exciting daunting all at the same time.

Well no need to worry, I got you covered. here is a quick checklist for your boudoir and hints and tips on how to prepare.

The Boudoir Bag Checklist

1. Consider 2-3 Outfits + a Few Extras

Outfits can be hard to narrow down! consider a few set pieces that match, colours, robs, over seizes jumpers etc.

2. Accessories

Some nice jewlary can work lovely with your boudoir photos, often less is more but make the pieces count. Small and large can work nicely.

3. Lotion

Moisturizing is always a great idea! This will not only give you a lovely glow and help keep the skin perfect. Avoid fake tanning lotions due to the uneven tones, missing areas etc that could show up in your photos.

4. Water + Light Snacks

If you’re anything like me, getting hangry is a real thing. If you’re being pampered with hair and makeup, you may find yourself a little hungry. Bring a some fruit and other light snacks and you’ll be set!

Time to preparing for a Boudoir Session

4-6 Weeks Prior

1. Begin thinking about your ideal boudoir outfits, Pinterest searchs may help with outfit ideas and posing.
Look through your clothing to find your favourite pieces you already own and look at magazines and brands you love for inspiration.

2. Ladies love to go shopping!
Ask a friend to join you on a shopping trip and help you find pieces you not only look amazing in, but feel great in as well! Consider outside the box thinking and try new things you have never considered, you never know! you may love it. Now is it something to add to your items to bring with you? Lets hope so.

3. Choose a Max of 3-5 Outfits
Now lets narrow down your outfit choices to 3-5 favourite outfits. Don’t be afraid to let your personality show in your choices!

4. Think Beyond the Shoot
Think about how you want to preserve your photos. An album and prints are my favorite way to show off boudoir photos! Albums, box of prints, wall art and other options can all be picked after the session. But can be an ever reminder of how amazing you are, how much you deserve this pampering session.

1 week Prior

1. For some ladies they like to wax or shave and moisturize to give a smooth finish to the skin, I certainly recommend moisturize on a daily bases to help keep the skin smooth, healthy and gorgeous.

2. Avoid spray tans or tanning lotions. As I have already touched on above. It doesn’t matter how natural tanning sprays and lotions may advertise or seem to the naked eye, they can create an orange glow that cannot be retouched after your session, or if an area of skin has not been covered evenly they can really show.

3. Hydrate your skin by drinking plenty of water to help keep your skin in the best condition possible.

4. Consider remove all the labels from the clothing, not just the sales tags but all lables so they don’t show up in your photos.

5. Now select your final 2-3 outfits sets and accessories to match.

2 Days Prior

1. Consider getting a fresh manicure! Its all about that pampering journey, and it starts before your session. Avoid bright colours, neutrals are best to avoid clashing with outfits etc.

2. I know this one is a hard one, TRY to avoid alcohol and drink plenty of water to hydrate your skin!

3. Again, Moisturize your skin.

4. Load your boudoir bag with everything you need the night before to ensure the essentials aren’t forgotten.

5. Double check your list, relax, jot down ideas and get ready to be pampered!

The Day Has Arraived - Boudoir Session Day

1. Arrive with a clean and moisturized face. This will help the hair and makeup artists do their magic.

2. Moisturize your entire body, hopefully you been doing this for the last 7 days as this will help make you shine as perfectly as your personality is!

3. Wear loose fitting clothing and undergarments to avoid impressions on the skin.

4. Eat a light meal that will ensure you’re satisfied but not bloated.

5. Allow plenty of time to arrive a few minutes early, this helps to settle your nerves, have a look around, a quick chat before getting pampered. You’ll feel at ease and ready to own your boudoir session!
